I remember when this was one of the largest (MB wise) of all movies on Newgrounds. Took me 15 minutes to load at college. I still like it.

"Very nice effort, some critique for improvement"
For such a short period of time spent animating, you did a very nice job. The scene with the Onix's head in the background and the tail in the foreground is particularly well done. Pikachu turning around in the opening scene is also a nice piece of animation.
A few suggestions to improve your work:
-First, a quality button. The full screen motion blur slows down performance significantly. Allowing for either automatic quality changes or select button onscreen would add to the viewers enjoyment.
-Motion blur, while a nice effect, was overused just a little. Shorter instances of blurring and more select application of the blur would help improve the overall effect. Remember that economy is one of the main principles of design-a little can go a long way.
-The ending felt tacked on. It lacked the quality present in the rest of the animation. It detracted from the overall viewing experience, and in my case dropped my rating.
Overall great job.

This reminds me of when I used to play games like Adventure!, Montezuma's Revenge, and the like when I was a kid. Great job at capturing the simple wonder of those early adventure games, while taking into lessons learned in modern platformers.

The dirt clots to the face was very unexpected and a very clever use of the scenery, making it a part of the show rather than a static background. You have a good eye for creative animation.

"Great use of the foreground, facial expressions"
The use of the foreground in the first scene added a sense of depth rarely seen in stick battle movies. The quick cuts to the facial expressions were also well timed to add dramatic character to otherwise nameless protagonists. Wonderful effort.

Next time try adding a preloader and replay buttons instead of a continuous loop. There are some great tutorials on newgrounds, as well as a preloader that you simply paste into the first frame of your movies.

This was a fun little movie. A bit of constructive criticism:
-Learn how to use single point perspective-it would give you a "3D effect" that would help improve the graphics. Google it to find some instructional examples.
-A little more sound. Event sounds for screams, tearing, and smashing would give the movie more impact.

Wow. That was great. The speed of the characters was what put this over the top.

An excellent overall effort. Several of the pieces had very smooth animation, and the sense of speed was conveyed nicely. The use of minimal space set off the animation effectively, and the use of both horizontal and vertical space in some cases was very well done. While some were better executed than others, the shear number of contributors had very high quality animations.
